For sale is my Plymouth Duster, 1971, 318ci V8. I've owned this car now for eight years and have done extensive work to get it to where it is today. Its not perfect and has a few rough areas around the edges, however its in good drivable condition with almost immaculate paint and body work. I dont use the car nearly as much as i would like to, so hopefully i can find a new owner that will enjoy it as much as it should be.
The basics
I am the second owner in the UK, i dont have a full history of it in the US, however i am under the impression it was only owned by two or three people in the US. I have documents with a previous owners name on and was able to contact them through facebook several years ago, and they owned the car for about 30+ years.
Partial service history. I have some receipts but for the most part it was serviced by myself. Most recently last Summer. Replaced Engine oil and coolant flush, spark plugs in good condition.
The car had a full bare metal respray in 2016 by Ash Rawson of APR bodyworks in Hull, all rust was removed and repaired and has a beautiful glossy black paint scheme with a matte black hood and black vinyl roof. Some of the images can be seen in the gallery.
Almost every bit of the interior has been replaced with reproduction parts from Classic Industries. The Bench seats, door cards, headlining and carpet as well as many other smaller misc bits were all replaced. I have wired up a vintage style Stewart Warner tachometer and all the gauges on the dash work.
The engine has had a slight overhaul and went from the stock 2bbl carb to an edelbrock intake and a Holley 4 bbl carburetor. The radiator has been replaced with an aluminium Champion radiator with a separate transmission cooler mounted to the front of it. It has a set of Heddman headers attached to flowmaster 40 straight pipe exhausts.
It sits on a set of lovely Ansen Sprint slot mag wheels with BFG White letter tires. They have plenty of tread left on them.
The shocks were replaced in 2019 with KYB gas adjust shocks alongside many other random little bits here and there. I have an extensive paper history, including receipts and year correct documents.
I think this car is lovely and ideal for someone that is wanting something they can drive right away but still work on as a project here and there to finish off the bits i dont have time to do.
There are several interior parts that need fitting including some of the rear panels around the windows and could do with a new parcel shelf.
Unfortunately i dinged the car on the rear panel reversing out of the garage, i have patched this up as best i could with my limited body work skills. From a distance and if you didnt know it looks ok, but up close its not the best. It has been cleaned and sealed from the weather so there is no risk of rust however. Also close to this is a small chip, i am unsure what caused this but has also been cleaned and patched up. There is also a slow leak of the power steering fluid resevoir. Thankfully ive found its not too
The car comes with a lot of parts including a golden stripe decal kit, original steel wheels and caps, various interior bits, misc electrical parts. Too many to list here. The car is an original california car, having been owned by the second owners for more than 30 years. It started out in california, moved across country to the east coast then back to california again before coming to the UK in 2015. I am the second owner in the UK and i think the fourth owner overall.
It was originally gold (as seen in the gallery), the first owner in the UK painted it in primer yellow shortly after it arrived in the UK, as well as fitting the wheels and hood scoop. I had it professionally painted to gloss black in 2016 and has been stored indoors during my ownership of the car.
