The Fiat Cinquecento was the car that motorized Italy, the Fiat company having built nearly four million examples over an eighteen year period from 1957 - 1975. The '500' model designation was derived from the 500cc engine size, thanks to the cars kerb weight of only half a ton the reliable little twin cylinder is still able give a surprisingly lively performance with a top speed of 65 mph.
The car quickly became adorably iconic and known all over the world for its wonderful Italian style. Much loved in Italy, the cars can still be seen today in daily use in Rome and they never fail to make us smile as we see an example traversing the ancient Roman city walls, parked outside a bar or simply travelling along the road with four people on board!
This example is remarkably original and unrestored, it is extremely well documented and has been owned and used for its entire life in the Laurentino and Divino Amore districts in the southern part of Rome.
This is the 500F model, which is arguably the best variant with an upgraded engine output and the original design body colour dashboard with a single central instrument binnacle.
With just three registered keepers, the car comes with a delightful complement of vintage Italian documents. These include the original log book, filled out by hand by the local registration authority and all revisione (MOT) stamps with literally dozens of insurance certificates.
Not least, the car retains its original 'Roma 988603' designation licence plates which are invaluable for displays, car shows and photo shoots. (Please note, Rome is the only Italian registration region that actually spells the name of the city on it's licence plates. All others use abbreviated initials, so 'MI' for Milan, 'TO' for Torino etc.)
MCY 375D is in fine original condition, the pale blue coachwork is reminiscent of a Tuscan sky in springtime and is perfectly offset by the biscuit tan upholstery. All chrome work is excellent, there are no mechanical issues and the car is rust free, having only recently arrived from salt free Italy.
It is fully registered and UK road legal and benefits from RFL and MOT exemption. This is the perfect opportunity to invest in an appreciating motoring icon that is guaranteed to raise a smile wherever it goes! Contact us today to arrange a viewing, we will be delighted to demonstrate it to you.
