The Appeal

Here’s a case where it’s all about ‘find another one.’ Even harder still, find another one this good. Because, despite being one of the greatest hot hatches of the 80s, the original featherweight Uno Turbo is now as rare as the proverbial nashers on a clucking egg machine.

All of which may explain why this Delhi Blue pre-facelift Mk1 was featured on the cover of Auto Italia magazine. It must be one of the best available, a largely factory-standard survivor that is a useful reminder of just how good these cars look. The effect is down to the vendor who tells us that he comprehensively restored this car 1 years ago, including an engine rebuild with polishd and ported head. Careful, sympathetic subsequent use, including never using it on salt roads, means it arrives on the market in extremely good order with many of its original features intact.

The car is one of the last of the pre-facelift Turbos built so is equipped with the 1.3L ‘Lampredi’ engine delivering 105bhp. We’re told that the car is fitted with new discs and pads, braided fuel and brake lines and a stainless exhaust. The current advisory-free MOT is valid to July 2026 and verifies the sense of a well kept, structurally sound car.

The sharp-handling Uno Turbo is hugely entertaining. But like many good things, it’s now in very short supply. If you love driving, don’t less this one slip away.
