For sale is my Morris Minor Pickup Hot Rod project.
Sadly, after keeping it for far longer than I should before realising it's never going to happen (very young family, running a business, other interests taking priority etc...), I have decided to list my truck.
The pickup is a 1958 genuine pickup, i. e. not a converted van/ traveller. original reg is UEW814
When I found the truck it was in very poor condition, all the floors and pickup bed were rusted out and the original chassis was well beyond repair, having rusted through in multiple places.
The cab floor, inner wheel arches, lower cab back, gearbox tunnel, bulk head were all replaced with fresh steel. A new chassis has also been made, though this will require further strengthening before being used in anger.
The pickup sides have been repaired with new steel. The tops of them have been lowered to sit inline with the door tops, with the idea to remove the belt line in the doors to smooth the whole side out. The tailgate is with the truck, but will need a lot of repair before being put to use.
New panels included are new front wings and grille panel, as well as lower door repair panels.
I still have the original (very knackered) front wings and front bumper. Also a pair of seats, and a few other incidental bits and pieces to help with the build.
The plan was to fit a 2. 0l DOHC Ford engine, box and rear diff - all included with the sale.
Custom made independent suspension with twin polished Stainless Steel A-arms all round. Sits on adjustable Gaz struts. No springs fitted as I never got round to buying any, just sitting on the bump stops.
The dash has been converted to a smooth top. Smiths Gauges come with the truck ready to be fitted into the dash.
Wheels are 'Wheel Vintiques Bare Smoothie Steels' bought through North Hants Tyres. 15x8 on the rears, 15x5 on the fronts, plus 4x chrome baby moon caps.
There is no paperwork with the pickup, or any VIN plates, so it would need re-registering. I do have the body number plate if that helps at all.
