This is a Ford Sierra Estate 2. 3 Ghia.
I purchased the car in Sep 2019. I have kept it garaged during my ownership. The previous owner had also kept it garaged. Mileage showed 21, 169 (which I assumed means the actual mileage was 121, 169). I am the fifth owner.
I have only used the car in the summer for classic car meets and shows. Current mileage is 121, 463 but will go up slightly.
During my ownership I have had the following done:
December 2020: Steering rack and steering pump refurbished by Western Power Steering. New tailgate struts fitted. Serviced (including new plugs) (mileage 121, 182).
August 2021: Two new tyres
In December 2021 I had the wheel arches replaced and a few other rust spots taken out and the car was partially resprayed (whole exterior except the roof).
January 2022: New front track control arms
August 2023: Rear brakes serviced. Fuel filter and filter hoses replaced. (Mileage 121, 310)
Car looks pretty solid underneath. There is some surface corrosion underneath but not unusual for a car of its age.
The bad bits (as far as I’m aware):
There is an exhaust blow from both rear silencers and they definitely need replacing. (If I was keeping car, I would get a stainless exhaust fitted but haven’t done so as I am selling and a new owner can decide what is best). I have taken this into account is setting the asking price. I have a video of exhaust when it was on ramp.
Small chip in windscreen on driver’s side but I think will be repairable.
Two or three small stone chips on front but all fairly minor.
Dash is cracked (but that’s a feature of all Mark 1 Sierras)
Radio/ tape (which is a Ford model but may not be the original for this car) doesn’t work. It did work when I bought the car so it may be something minor but I haven’t looked into the problem.
The passenger side electric mirror doesn’t adjust the whole way up/ down when using the control (the driver’s side works fine)
Looks like there may be signs of some minor corrosion around the sunroof. I have not opened the sunroof during my ownership but when I bought the car the previous owner had the roof open and demonstrated that it opened and closed. It is a manual sunroof not electric.
I have the original Ford guidebook and the operating guide book for the car. I have a few invoices that the previous owner handed to me when I got the car. The only one of interest is that the car had a second-hand gearbox fitted in 2014.
Overall the car is in pretty good condition for a 40 year old car. Apart from the bits I have mentioned above everything else appears to work as far as I can see.
I have in the last month had the car two stage polished and ceramic coated.
Current MOT expires in August 2024 although I believe car will be MOT and tax exempt going forward.
I have a video of the car running and lots of photos available for a genuinely interested buyer.
I am selling because I have my eye on another eighties classic.
