The Rover 75 was unveiled at the British Motor Show in October 1998, before going on sale the following June. In 2004 MG Rover released a facelifted version of the 75 which introduced a more modern look and the new Contemporary specification to the range. These new Contemporary models featured less bright work than the other 75s and black interiors with sports seats and new 'Dark Oak' decor.
This particular car, a Contemporary SE, was first registered in June 2004 by Drakes of Shiptionthore in Yorkshire and was then bought a few weeks later by Mr Bedford of Ossett who owned the car until it was bought by its current owner in 2017.
As one of only 314 Rover 75 Contemporary SEs manufactured with the 1. 8T engine, YW04 BNY is a rare car - all the more as it is fitted with the 5-speed automatic gearbox instead of the more common manual.
This top spec model features the usual Contemporary SE refinements including black leather sports interior with front seat heating and electric adjustment, 17” ‘Starspoke’ alloy wheels, climate control, rear parking sensors, harmon kardon premium audio and auto wipers.
In addition the car is fitted with the rare option pack which adds xenon headlights with powerwash, electric sunroof, curtain airbags and powerfold mirrors.
The car also features genuine Rover fitted carpet mats, a Brink fixed swan neck towbar with twin 7pin electrics, additional courtesy lighting, ambient interior lighting and SAWS remap. The original IOVOX head unit has been replaced with a Kenwood radio/ CD unit with USB and AUX connections (located in the centre armrest cubby). The steering wheel controls continue to operate the unit.
