This original left-hand drive car in a classic colour scheme of off white with a Beautiful ochre interior was imported from Sicily by myself as a romantic ruse. The Fiat purportedly had received a renovation a short while (in my estimation around 2015) before my purchase. Car duly bought and delivered, registered etc. a few small tweaks later was providing many smiles per very slow miles, that said it does cruise at 45/ 50mph. I sold to a friend who had been wanting it for a while and he used sparingly until i took the car back in a deal with something else i had that he wanted. I have thought about keeping the car as it always makes me smile but i really would like to have a VSCC car for trials. So i cant keep it!

The car:

1971 Fiat 500 Lusso
Off white with ochre interior

Engine- sounds quiet and is smooth, starts readily and responds well. I suspect it should probably have a tune up before using this season. Last serviced around this time lat year.

Transmission- this is what it is- Its no ferrari change! All gears work, drive seems smooth other than operator error the box is quite nice to use- its a slow steady change

Chassis/ steering/ brakes
Seems to be pretty fair, one brake seems to just rub a drum slightly but disappears after a short distance. This seems to have cleared up- i have driven the car a little this last week in the clear weather. Pulls up square, suspension compliant and no noises, steering is like a go kart and very direct, tyres have good tread.

Exterior- generally pretty good, a few marks as to be expected of a car thats been used, i suggest looking at the car to make your own mind up. Chrome is fair, some new. Sunroof works great and doesn't leak. Quick release luggage rack with F&M wicker basket for picnics and lightly toasted sandwiches.

Interior: ochre (probably not everyone’s taste) but i like it, in good shape bar a little tear in the back face of the front seat. Instrument’s, dials etc all appear to operate as they should, one piece rubber mat, very basic inside but thats part of the charm. Electrics currently all work. Wind up windows. Original fiat tool kit, jack and spare wheel, handbook.

Service/ history

Very little from Before it arrived here, receipts for bits and pieces since.

A charming mellowed older restoration ready for using, as always the car is now 50 years old so don’t come expecting it to be as new, there will be constant maintenance and tweaks needed- as per the nature of an older vehicle. It will however probably provide many happy memories for years to come.
