A well known car in the BX club and a very rare top spec DTR model with electric sunroof & power steering both of which make it very usable.
Looks amazing, incredibly clean inside and out. Drives really well. Rattle free. Everything works and leak free. It's not fast but it feels "spritely". Has the 1. 9 XUD engine with 65bhp, and no Turbo. Drives as I remember from when I had a red 19RD at University.
Extensively restored prior to my ownership with all underneath welding and paint done by my local bodyshop. Huge history file. New octopus, struts and fuel lines, new steering rack gaiter. £4500 spent in my ownership since October 2021, much with Chevronics. New MOT with NO advisories.
It even has its own thread on the BX Club forum. See "My MK1 BX 19 DTR Saloon" which tracks its restoration journey. Says 32k on the odometer but I think it is about 200k.
Selling as we have nine cars (incl an XM & 2CV) and accessible storage for eight. And this is the one that has to go sadly.
Good points
+ Bodywork now rust free. Everything dealt with. Excellent paint.
+ Drives 100%. No rattles, smooth and incredibly comfortable
+ Appearance inside - lovely interior and that Mk1 dashboard!
+ Extensive history file
+ Find another Mk1 - and then see if it is in this condition and spec
Bad points
- Sloppy gear linkage. Diagnosed as ball needing machine shop work. Changes fine and no issues
- Speedo lies more than Boris but works just fine. You know though that it's out so just go with the flow.
No P/ X. I'd like to get my 2CV out of storage for the summer which is why the BX is up for sale.
