Very reluctant sale of my stunning Razor Edge Karmann Ghia. This a car I had always wanted and got my opportunity a few years ago but with 3 classics & a daily driver I just cannot keep everything so something sadly has to go.
Fully and correctly restored around 10 years ago the car is still in stunning condition and has been seen at many shows over the last few years. It has a very comprehensive history file including original German sales brochure (English version also included), handbook, birth certificate, invoices & details of the restoration as well as items from its life in the States. The restoration was detail correct and it has not been ‘modified’ other than an upgrade to 12v electrics and dual circuit brakes.
The car never fails to attract attention and get people talking so if you are shy its not the car for you!
Despite being exempt the car has an MOT & I will be put a new one on not only for peace of mind but to maintain its history. The mileage showing is 72, 000 which is probably correct due to the large amount of time it was off the road, however its largely irrelevant as pretty much everything has been renewed or overhauled.

Built on the 10th March 1965 and despatched to the dealer in Nuremburg on the 11th March not much is known about its early life in Germany. Later in its life a serving US American Air Force officer took the car back to his home in Arizona upon returning from his tour of duty.
In around 2000, he sold it on to another man in Arizona who managed to get it running again having been unused for many years since arriving in the US.
He then sold it on to someone in Alabama in March 2009, who started collecting lots of parts in readiness for a full restoration. Sadly he passed away before it could be started so it was sold to someone from California in May 2011.
He dismantled it with a view to creating a show car and was responsible for fitting the Klassic Fab T3 floorpans.
He only owned it for a short while before realising what he had taken on and he wanted his garage space back so he sold it in March 2012 to someone from Cambridgeshire who imported here.
He completed a very comprehensive restoration over 4 years paying particular attention to the model specific details to ensure they were correct and some of the restoration progress was recorded on the T34 World website.
The restoration was basically to standard factory specification other than having been upgraded to a 12 volt electrical system & dual circuit brakes. According to the VW birth certificate, the original colour was Henna Red but he chose to paint it Cherry Red, another year-correct colour.
The interior was replaced with as close a match to the original fabric as possible and reflects the sales brochure of the time and a new headliner was installed. The bumpers are replacement stainless steel ones. A full engine rebuild was carried out at great expense.
I purchased the car at the beginning of 2022 as it had barely been used it since completing the restoration in 2016 – the last MOT was September 2017 and I arranged for some re-commissioning of the brakes and sorting out of some poor running issues. Sadly it turned out that the supposed engine rebuild had not been well executed and a further rebuild using a replacement block was required. The car now runs and drives superbly and attended the Lavenham meeting last year a round trip of nearly 500 miles.
I am very open to talking to people and will consider reasonable offers but only after you have seen the car or we have talked about it - a blind email simply asking what I will take will be, respectfully, ignored.
