Bought by the present owner as a project in March 2020. The sale included a rough US import as a source of spares but in fact only the gear selector drum was used.
The previous owner had rebuilt the engine with a rebore and new pistons then decided to loosely assemble the bike and sell it on rather than complete the rebuild himself. I completely stripped the frame, wheels and metalwork. The gears were found not to select correctly so the gearbox was split and the selector drum which was found to have been modified was replaced with an unworn standard item, at this time it was possible to verify the rebore and new pistons.

The restoration included the following:
Sand blasting metalwork the powder coating the frame, fork shrouds and swinging arm. The remaining metalwork was re-sprayed.
Fuel tank cleaned and treated internally with POR15 anti corrosion coating.
chrome stripped and re-plated by Hampshire Electroplating.
Wheels rebuilt with new rims and spokes.
Sterling head fitted with taper roller bearings.
Hagon rear dampers fitted with stainless steel lower shrouds.

Receipts for over £3500 are on file for parts and work done in connection with the restoration by my me and the previous owner.
There are a small number of spares, including the original top gearbox cover from which the platers could not remove the pitting. The cover fitted is stainless steel which obviously is not original.

The Honda is a UK supplied bike, not a US import as so many are. It is “on the button”, rides and presents well. The V5 shows only two previous owners in the 54 year’s prior to my purchase in 2020. For me, the enjoyment of ownership came from the restoration of this very well engineered machine.
