Description
1969 MGC GT, purchased in 2011 from MG Motorsport, Herts with freshly rebuilt Doug Smith engine gearbox and overdrive. Engine is built to fast road (Downton spec) with lightened flywheel, faster cam and tubular manifold with twin pipe Maniflow exhaust. The suspension is full polybushed. In 2013-2015 the bodywork was fully baremetalled and restored at Mitchell Motors, Chicklade, Wilts, ( see their website) with all new sills, both inner and outer, castle rails, floors, and body panels where required. The car was the finished in a very attractive dark blue. The interior was fully re-trimmed using Tan Bridge of Weir leather, dark blue Wilton carpet and west of England cloth headlining . The leather lined luggage space is finished with luggage rails. It has a fitted sunroof with wind deflector. New tubeless knock on painted wire wheels were purchased at the same time and these are now shod with Vredestein Classic Sprint tyres with little wear. All body cavities were waxoyled at the time of the rebuild and all lower sections of bodywork are in stonechip. There is also fitted a period correct radio. The car has always been professionally maintained regardless of cost, and has recent new radiator and fan. Full service approx 900 miles ago.
There is a some localised micro- blistering on the rear tailgate, my local MG restoration specialist Tim Kelly MG nr Truro has quoted £350-£400 to bare metal and re spray this area ( the car is booked in for June), and I have reflected this in the price but am happy to negotiate. This much loved and pampered car has been used extensively for UK and continental touring proving to be extremely comfortable and effortless. It will sit happily at 75-80 all day in overdrive top and for its time is fairly frugal. It has always been garaged and always receives many compliments. I have a genuine reason for selling and will miss the car greatly. There is a heritage certificate, many old mot’s invoices for works done and photos of the rebuild available with the car
