In 2007 we set about to build our ultimate MGC after buying and selling them for 10 or so years. We located a roadster in Kent and had to buy 3 cars to get the Roadster. The body had been stripped and stored outside and was in a very poor state. We mounted the body on our spit and sent it for blasting. On return the full extent of the work required was obvious. We should have stopped right there but we wanted this car. This led to me developing and making all the panels I now sell for MGCs. The body was welded up over about a year with all new sills, floors, wings and doors. Some bought new and some we had new in the workshop. The car was painted in etch primer, primer and then fully seam sealed. Then the top coat Pale Primrose was applied to the body and then all the panels and then the panels assembled. We reconditioned every part of the car and everything was blasted, painted or plated and the refit began. Every part was put back in with new or replated nuts and bolts and a little smear of copperslip on all parts during assembly.
The engine was rebuilt to fast road spec with AH2 cam with every part balanced and a lightened flywheel. Ignition is 123. The overdrive gearbox was stripped, checked and rebuilt. The car happily drives at 90mph and at 70mph is only doing 2200 revs.
We fitted new polybush’s to the suspension, rebuilt the steering rack and kingpins and fitted parabolic springs and Gaz shocks on the front and lever arms on the rear. The car was fully waxoiled with clear wax and has been done again twice with clear dinitrol since finishing the built in 2009. In 2010 the car won concours at the MGC register yearly meeting even though I didn’t enter it. I have used this car as my works demonstrator and many people have driven the car and then commissioned me to make there car as good as mine.
The speedo was zeroed at the time of build and now has covered 7800 miles in my ownership.
The car is called Maisie and she was in the MG Car Club marquee at MG Live in 2012 and was also invited to be in the “Timeline” at MGB50 the same year. In 2013 Maisie was in an MG v Triumph article for Classic & Sports Car in July 2013 and was the car on the front cover of that months magazine.
Truly not your average MGC and would cost a small fortune to replicate.

One of the very best MGCs out there. So easy to drive and enjoy.
