I have owned this lovely car for 10 years since 2014, purchased from Furnhurst , it has a full TVR service history up to 2019 after which I carried out servicing except for various specialist items. In my ownership I changed the oil every 3000miles and engine has no blue smoke and uses aprox 1 litre per 1300miles which is normal. It has a full years MOT and has had a recent service with new fluids, plugs, leads and distributor cap ready for the summer season. It has been my pride and joy and has almost been fully rebuilt since I have had the car with no expense spared.
In 2019 it had a full body-off chassis restoration by Southways (cost £9000) done before any rust set in so chassis is all original with no repairs necessary and is fully galvanised and epoxy painted in silver grey.
It had all new poly bushes, wheel bearings, fuel lines and brake lines, drive couplings etc during this restoration and the engine was also given a major overhaul with replacement cam, and adjustable push-rods, new water and oil pumps, oil seals etc etc.
I also had many other improvements done as follows;
ACT sports manifold and exhaust, ACT carbon trumpets, AP front brakes and new rear brakes and disks. New rear diff, refurbished gearbox as it had a slight oil leak, AP clutch. New Bilstien Tuscan S suspension so it rides and handles really well. 16 inch refurbished Estoril wheels all-round.
Body was resprayed 2 years ago and paintwork is very good except from a few front-end chips. Car had new carpets and ditramat sound deadening, new full leather interior and hood by D and C trim in Blackpool.
Mark 3 headlamp conversion including Wipac CE approved LED lights which are fantastic.
DAB radio, Odyssey battery and fuses relocated to behind passenger seat for better passenger legroom and maintenance.
Car has not been chipped as it runs smoothly and has plenty of power in standard form. Also i installed an uprated radiator with an additional core to give better cooling and hot idling .
Windscreen was replaced aprox 1 year ago.
This is one of the best driving and sorted Chimaera 500 you will find and I will be disappointed to see it go but the on-set of Arthritis is making it harder for me to enjoy. I have enjoyed many European TVR tours in this car and it has never let me down and it still gets me excited when I drive it . I have kept a service file for parts and repairs and also have a Steve Heath Bible that can go with the car together with a spare wheel and tonneau cover. This car has a unique blend of comfort and performance and has proved to be an excellent touring car with the large boot and useful space behind the seats. I can drive it all day with no aches or pains but it is also light and nibble with excellent handling and effortless power and torque. The handling is particularly good as having experimented with various aftermarket shocks, Bilstein suit this car best and so do Yokohama AD08 tyres which are by far the best within the limited choice for wheel size.
