Welcome to the advert for this very special, outstanding and extremely low mileage Rover Mini Cooper RSP ( Rover Special Product) finished in British racing green with contrasting white roof and John Cooper decals. This very rare and limited edition Mini has only covered 530 miles having been purchased in August 1990 and put into a private collection until it was sold in 2016. I Am selling this vehicle on behalf of the current owner who purchased the car in July 2020 with just over 320 miles showing at that time.
The current owner is a good friend of mine and he has reluctantly decided to sell the car as he is downsizing his collection.
This RSP Mini Cooper is number 303 of 1050 produced for the UK market. This Mini special edition was built between June and October 1990 and was an attempt to re-ignite the John Cooper influence and heritage bringing back the Cooper name for the first time since the early 1970s, this proved to be an instant success as all 1050 cars were sold before they hit the showrooms and this re-established the John Cooper name for further generations of the Mini.
The Mileage of this unique Mini RSP is reflected in the immaculate condition due to being very well preserved and dry stored for all of its 34 years. The paintwork is original with no marks or dents, all chromework and fitting are rust free and fitting well.
The distinctive interior is in pristine condition with no marks or scuffs, all glass is unmarked and all switchgear and controls work as intended. The opening glass sunroof is another feature only fitted to this RSP model and works without fault. This provides enhanced comfort as well as providing a more pleasurable driving experience.
This RSP is fitted with unique Minilite wheels and they are all in excellent condition with no corrosion or damage. During the course of preparing the car for sale it was noticed that the tyres were original so I have ordered 4 new pirelli cinturato tyres to be fitted which are the original specification from new.
This Mini is fitted with the MG Metro engine and gearbox and was the last Mini to be fitted with a carburettor. The Mini runs and drives as it should and does not miss a beat, Starts easily and settles to a nice idle once warm. The gearbox and clutch are both smooth and precise with no unwanted knocks or bangs.
Due to the car having very little use several components have been checked and replacement parts fitted if required over the past month that include: Carburettor overhaul kit and clean as required, New rotor arm (Lucas) New distributor cap (Lucas) New ignition leads (Lucas) and new spark plugs (NGK). The Mini has also had a recent oil and filter change along with a brake check and the rear wheel cylinders replaced. The fuel system has also been checked and cleaned.
This iconic Cooper RSP is a superb opportunity to purchase an exceptional and appreciating classic that can be enjoyed for many years to come as well as being a strong investment. This Mini always draws plenty of attention and many admiring glances.
This Mini Cooper is very popular amongst classic car enthusiasts and is ready to be passed on to the next custodian.
