Description
If you are looking at this advert then you will know all about the supercharged 3. 2 V6 that propels this SLK32 AMG down the road. It is quite simply a superb engine. This Obsidian Black example with Anthracite leather is in good health; starting without hesitation and sounding smooth from cold, pulling incredibly willingly thereafter once warmed up. Although disappointingly Mercedes never made a manual version, this examples automatic 5-speed box works as intended.
There are a couple of achilles heels with the R170 SLK's; namely the folding Vario roof can give trouble and they corrode - badly! The roof on this example functions perfectly and in terms of rust there are only a couple of cosmetic blisters i. e. nothing terminal! The arches are exceptionally good with only small areas of corrosion near the front nearside arch (at the front of the sill and just above the front bumper). Apart from this there is only one other area of blistering - the passenger door handle. Both areas are shown in the pictures. An MOT history check will reveal that there are no structural issues.
The car has only had three former keepers and since the last keeper change in June 2019 has been part of a private collection (which interestingly includes a contemporary rival - the BMW Z3 M Roadster). For the last couple of years it has been kept in professional dehumidified storage, though still MOT'd annually, and the current MOT is valid until March 2025.
This is a genuine example of a rare and likely to appreciate classic. The car is available for sale at Leavenhalls Classic & Prestige in Shropshire whereupon it can be viewed on a ramp. It is being sold due to lack of use and to make way for something new!
