Volvo 164 E 1974 Injection, Automatic gearbox drives great
The Volvo 164 was a very luxurious car back then, based on the Volvo 140, built from 1969 till 1975. This 1974 Volvo164 is the very rare Injection version. The car has the original 2978 CC 6 cyl 175 HP Injection engine with a 3 speed Auto gearbox. Drives great. The car is in a beautiful and very well maintained condition. This Volvo also has leather interior, sunroof. A really nice Volvo 164 E ready for a lot of years of driving fun.
The car has undergone a brake overhaul with fully reconditioned calipers, new pipes, with a new 240 servo and master cylinder. The tyres have seen very little mileage since it was put back on the road. A towbar was fitted and used once. The injectors were also fully reconditioned at an injector specialist. The alternator was reconditioned and also has a new battery. The car boasts a very low mileage, having been stored in southern Ireland for some years, before being brought to the UK and recommissioned with a new registration.
The vehicle is not without some remedial work for the new owner however, and so the sunroof is currently inoperative and needs an overhaul. Also the dashboard instruments have power issues and so a new instrument binnacle comes with the car that includes a good working PCB.
The body and structure is in fantastic condition and reflective of the low mileage. Any close up pictures required, then please ask.
The 164 was never a mass-market car; just 46, 008 were built globally. So the chance to buy a running example for a modest amount doesn’t come around often. C’mon, it’s a Volvo!
