Hi there, here is my 2014 Volkswagen T5 SWB (T28 Startline). The history behind this van are as follows; I purchased the van from the original owner who was a baker and used it as a work van for 190, 000 miles. Though this van is high mileage it is very tidy and we all know how far these engines can go! There's stacks of documentation and service history that comes with the van also.
When I purchased this van I went though the requirements to turn it into a discrete camper, this consisted of taking out the refrigeration unit and replacing it with a solar panel, this then feeds a leisure battery under the passenger seats which power a 1000W inverter and also the 12V lighting circuit. A simple but tasteful conversion of the interior consisted of hardwood herringbone flooring (not vinyl), white wooden cladding on the walls over the existing 50mm insulation that was professionally fitted when first commissioned (this proved beneficial when camping in -12 degrees in the French alps). The layout design is to allow for two bench seats with a swivel table during the day but can also be transformed into a double bed when needed in the evening (this also allows for a road bike to fit between as shown in the photos)
I will still be working on and using the van while the listing is up - the work consists of:
- Wheel refurbishment
- Making the bulkhead window more usable
- Adding a side window
- Fitting a diesel heater (comes with the sale)
