Meet “LEO” as my family like to call it, the time may have come for me to part with my 1 year only 1200 model which is quite a desired shell. I have owned the beetle almost 10 years i think and just before my ownership it had a full body restoration and i cleaned the underside thoroughly after purchase, once i knew it was mint under there it was waxoiled. It has lots of history with the car and it now has a 1641cc engine with scat c25 cam and twin webber 34ict carbs which was built with an aircooled specialist 3-4 years ago. When we did this we started again from scratch it had new bearings, everything and i have the pics to prove and you can speak to the specialist engine builder yourself. It has had everything and fires up after being covered up and put away for winter, its always been dry stored and never seen salty roads in my ownership. I have some spares to go with it too and it sits on some mint empi 8 alloy wheels that look spot on. The interior is in great condition with black and orange piping seats and door cards. I have fitted a rev counter just so that i could run the engine on for the 500 miles steadily before checking and changing oil etc. Being 1971 its tax and mot exempt although i was still moting it upto a few years ago but i dont think iv done more than 200 miles since running the engine in as i just dont get chance. it deserves to be used and enjoyed by someone but i dont need to sell it so will not be giving it away, serious offers only and ridiculous ones will be ignored. Im not sure what its worth as the engine alone to buy with this spec is very expensive . All i have to go off is the insurance agreed valuation after they inspected it is £9500. I took it to the local aircooled specialist for a service and once over so it is ready for the new owner. I will try to give it a good polish as even though its always had a cover on in the garage it has got a little dusty. May consider px for a mk2 golf gti thats on the road
