A top spec, rear wheel drive, turbocharged Volvo estate. It is common to see these cars with over 250k miles on them still going strong and is rare these days to find one with under 100k on the clock. Widely regarded as one of the most reliable cars ever produced.

This is a ‘Celebration’ model, the last hoorah of the 940, and indeed the old rear wheel drive Volvo range. It benefits from central locking, air conditioning, heated half leather interior, wood dash trim and leather steering wheel. The car is complete with its pull-out load cover, dog guard/ cargo barrier and optional third row seating.

The interior is in stunning condition. There are a few small marks and scratches to the exterior as would be expected of a car of this age. The car is in very good condition overall – she turns a lot of heads! Please have a good look through the photographs.
There are no mechanical issues to report. The car is effortless to drive - beautifully smooth with a good surge of power available when needed. No funny noises or rattles – she drives better than most new cars!

I have just had a full service and MOT done with a local Volvo Specialist garage, including spark plugs and a cambelt kit. The car had a little issue with its handbrake which was rectified for the MOT, it has now passed with no further advisory items. The car has a fantastic history. It was originally part of Volvo’s “Tourist & Diplomat Sales” scheme, having been delivered first to a D. Burrell, an RAF serviceman working from RAF Bruggen in Germany.
From there, the car was brought back to the UK and sold to a Mr Moor, who owned the car for just over 4 years before trading it in with Mill Volvo in Newcastle. The car at this point had done 45, 600 miles, when it was sold to the previous owner in February of 2003. He would go on to own the car for 21 years! Around the time of the pandemic, he gave up driving, and the car sat in storage until he unfortunately passed away just last year.

I have a stack of service history with the car, including invoices, old tax discs, nearly every MOT certificate right back to its first. I also have the receipt from Mill Volvo to the previous owner in 2003. Service book, owner’s manual, and V5 in my name all present. I also have the very rare “Volvo Special Delivery” blue velvet covered book pack which was only given to cars on the “Tourist and Diplomat Sales” scheme.

All-in-all, a very well cared for and low mileage example of an appreciating practical modern classic.
