Description
Possibly one of the best, unadulterated W460 G Wagons out there. The car was originally a demonstrator for Woking Motors of Walton Upon Thames, where upon it was sold to its first owner who used it and then dry stored it for 20 years. It was then sold on to a local Mercedes-Benz specialist who recommissioned the car with a replacement engine, new clutch, discs and brakes etc (receipt attached for £7527) before I bought it. Therefore it has only had three previous owners. The G starts and runs beautifully, the engine is strong and quiet and the gearbox and transfer box is faultless. The odometer shows 19k miles (5 digit odometer), however this is more likely to be 119k miles given the age. Having been stored in a dry barn for over 20 years the chassis and bodywork is exceptional. Since my ownership, I have replaced the windscreen wiper seals, blower motor, front hub bearings and seals and wheel bearings all round. I have also replaced the seals in the diff locks which are fully functional. The chassis is in excellent condition with no rust at all. The body is also is very good condition with zero rust showing on the seams. I have since applied lanoguard to keep it looking good. All five wheels have been refurbished, bead blasted, zinc coated and powdercoated making the car really standout. I have also fitted an aluminium roof rack which makes it practical as a classic work vehicle or day camper with roof tent option. All external steel work remains as is with aged patina, which personally, I think makes it stand out more than a re sprayed model. That said, if you wanted it resprayed then there would be minimal prep required. There was a small area under the rear boot lip that needed welding which has been done and re sprayed. There are some rips in the vinyl fabric at the top of the rear seat and a small tear in the vinyl on the side of the drivers seat, but otherwise the interior trim is fantastic. In a few months the car will also reach classic age status, which means it will be zero road tax and MOT exempt and i believe high emmision zone exempt also. I love classic cars so now looking to pass this car on to find my next project.
