Description
Lea Francis 12/ 40 P Type with Meadows 4ED Engine - 2 seater with double dickey in Green/ black
Manufactured in 1928 and first registered in 1929. Original Registration Books indicate 6 owners. The current owner purchased the car from a friend over 30 years ago. The friend also owned the car for over 30 years.
Well maintained, with extensive paperwork and receipts available, including original Lea Francis brochure, spare parts catalogue and technical drawings. New hood fitted in 1999 (still in excellent condition). We bought the Lea Francis from our friend in 1994. He bought it 30 years earlier and he'd thoroughly restored the car. It has been a reliable and (relatively) quick car, which gave us the confidence to undertake long journeys including trips to Stanford Hall in Coventry (for meeting of the owners club), and to Jersey (for the Jersey Old Motoring Club Centenary Rally).
In October 2016 we were invited to Buckingham Palace to celebrate Her Majesty's 90th birthday, where 90 cars were gathered, one for each year of the Queen's life. The P Type was chosen to represent 1928. HRH Prince Michael of Kent is shown with the current owner in one of the photographs provided.
