Description
Mechanical work undertaken:
Full Engine rebuild, including water/ oil pumps, new starter ring and clutch, alternator, starter motor, valves etc etc.
Gearbox rebuilt by a specialist.
Solex carb rebuilt and tuned by Alan at Carbcare (if you know, you know!)
Bodywork undertaken:
Two NOS doors fitted.
Repainted in a Vauxhall coach white. Functional rather than mirror finish - could be improved or left as is.
Suspension has been removed, blasted and rebuilt with new bushes throughout, refitted to car with rebuilt brakes and new tyres.
Extensive welding has taken place in the past but only area of filler is around the rear valance.
Interior work:
Seats have been recovered, including sourcing of the third fold out bed (only fitted on de luxe models). New curtains fitted alongside original tables, cupboards, sink etc. Gas cooker is included but untested and with no guarantees!
Overall:
Car is MOT'd and ready for the campsite. Starts and drives very nicely with no problems. Was up for sale last year with the interior unfinished but think that put people off so we decided to do that as well as the mechanical side. The 'Roma' was the smallest and cheapest Dormobile conversion, based on the Bedford HA Van chassis - offering a one ring gas cooker, double bed and (on deluxe models) a fold out bunk bed.
Apparently there are only 18 on the road, so this must be 19. It's a chance to own a rare car that actually shares a lot of spares with its Vauxhall / Bedford HA cousins, so availability not as bad as you might think.
