We bought this bus in New Zealand - it was white then (photo). It used to be an 18 seater school bus, then a works bus for the forestry out there. Then it was retired and converted to a camper. We bought it in 2005 and travelled the whole of New Zealand in her, then brought her back home. We refurbished her in various ways and went travelling over UK and Ireland we had painted her red (shiny red photo). But the final time we used her was 2013. She was blowing oil. We found all the piston rings in cylinder 1 had broken up and scored the cylinder. We got a refurbished engine from UK, and got the diesel pump and injectors serviced. Put the 'new' engine in - but have never managed to get it working - timing was the issue we think. But now I have run out of interest, and time. She is sitting in the yard waiting .... for an enthusiast to take her on. It's either that or she goes for scrap. I have plenty of spare bits - lights etc - because now she needs a real full overhaul (all other photos). The 2. 8 litre 4-cylinder diesel engine (220 cu in Bedford) is not original, but had replaced the 6 cyl petrol, long before we bought it. We got a refurbished 2. 8 to replace the broken one, and it looked to be in good condition, timing etc. Diesel pump is good, mechanically linked to the engine. Acceleration is by vacuum system through to the back of the diesel pump. There is also a vacuum pump to assist the brakes. Inside it has cooker, seating for 4 or more, large double bed with security locker underneath, cupboards and wardrobe. Roof has a new stainless steel sheet (replacing the three roof vents which were leaking the rain through) and fibreglassed all over. Window rubbers all replaced. Completely weatherproof. Good strong gearbox, very low gearing - we rarely used first gear. Top speed about 50 mph in the good old days. Drives like a tank. She is gorgeous! Great vehicle. Sorry to see her go. We are located in West Cork, Ireland, about 8 miles from Skibbereen. The bus is fully registered in ireland.
