Description
1986 Mercedes G Wagon Project – No Engine or Transmission
Over two years ago, I committed to restoring and converting this 1986 Mercedes G Wagon and have spent over £25k to date. Originally from Norway, it received a W463 body upgrade before being exported to the UK about three years ago. I’ve now decided to sell, as I need a daily driver and have run out of funds to complete the project.
The Highlights:
✅ Immaculate Chassis: I’ve invested £11, 280 into fully restoring the chassis to perfection. Every component has been powder-coated, all bushings replaced, and it’s fitted with a new 2-inch lift kit.
✅ Wheels & Tyres: Brand new 16” Ashtaroth alloys, powder-coated black, wrapped in new Toyo AT tyres.
✅ Body & Interior: Left-hand drive (LHD) body with black leather seats in good condition. The body has undergone extensive rust repairs, though some rust remains around the doors (see photos).
✅ Paperwork & Keys: Comes with a V5C, keys, and an MOT from August (before the engine was removed). ONLY 150 miles on the clocks when it was MOT'd and registered in the UK with the new engine.
Negatives:
- The wiring stalled the project, and the body still needs work.
- No Engine or Transmission, I needed to remove them due an install issue.
A Huge Potential Build:
With the right investment, this could easily become a £50k+ vehicle. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time or resources to see it through. True utilitarian classic 4x4! I had a very exciting vision for this car. I would love to see what someone can do to complete this car, it's a real shame to see it go.
I will pay £200 towards delivery using my transporter, I will only get quotes when I have agreed a sale. True utilitarian classic 4x4! I had a very exciting vision for this car. I would love to see what someone can do to complete this car, it's a real shame to see it go.
