Currently for sale ONLY as a competition etc vehicle in the UK, or subject to your local motoring laws if you live outside of the UK, as the DVLA have rejected its completely valid MOT test pass (it had previously been driven over 800 miles with zero safety issues since being built) and demanded a full IVA check along with Q plates...
Because of 2 body mounting bolt brackets being added. Yes that is literally it. Which they only found out about because I requested an accurate V5 change of colour and body type. That's what you get for being an honest citizen of the United Kingdom folks.
In the meantime I will be pursuing said IVA approval:
If it passes it will no longer be for sale, since I had zero prior intention of selling the car and absolutely love it.
If it fails I will be shipping it overseas where the government isn't quite as much of a jobsworth.
On to the car: This represents a 1 year, £30, 000 build between myself and 4 other mechanics, across two workshops, built from two complete vehicles - a 2007 Mitsubishi L200 and a 1973 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow
It has 2 complete chassis, not chopped or lengthened in any way, monocoque-on-ladder, along with the complete unmodified Mitsubishi drivetrain. Exact same length and track width as a standard Shadow. So:
- 2. 5 litre turbo diesel (Mitsubishi standard unit)
- 5 speed auto with Hi-Lo shifter and selectable 2WD/ 4WD
- 2 wiring looms with split duty, RR lights, electric windows, central locking etc, with Mitsubishi running electricals - again full MOT compliance
- Almost complete original RR interior, plus Mitsubishi HUD, shifters & handbrake
- Custom 160L (35. 5 Gallon) endurance tank in the boot, with verified 34 mpg from fuel receipts, so in other words in excess of 1, 250 mile range
- Over 6 feet tall (Looks down on Range Rovers) & weighs 2, 360 kg with driver and 1/ 2 tank of fuel (weigh bridge verified)
- Comes with Mitsubishi paperwork (minus V5, DVLA have that now) and ALL Rolls-Royce paperwork including VIN, metal NHJ333M plates (Never used in this form) currently V5 SORN in my name. Mitsubishi reg VE56RNJ and VIN are now void and cannot be used according to DVLA
- Also comes with x4 brand new £500 INSA Turbo heavy duty tyres & x4 brand new £300 17x7 steel wheels (was literally about to fit when I received DVLA letter... FML)
Insurance for me is £1, 400 a year with an agreed value of £25, 000, I have receipts for over £29, 000 of work + other bits which I no longer have receipts for, so suffice it to say it will never be available for 20k again whether it passes or not: Either it will be successfully Q-plated, or shipped overseas.
