Description
For sale is my stunning bmw 1502 in pastelblau. Its rare enough for a good 1502 to come up for sale but a RHD model is rarer still and this is truly unique opportunity, to own such a low mileage well documented and cared for example.
Sold new in 1975 by Jacksons BMW st Helier where it spent most of its life with Mr P Maloney. A true piece of Channel Islands motoring history. During its time with mr Maloney its had everything and anything needed to keep it in top condition including a costly trip from Jersey to a BMW specialist on the mainland. There it received an extensive restoration costing £3500 which in todays money with inflation is over £7000.
Spending its life in Jersey has its advantages, not only are the roads not salted in winter, there is only so far you can go! so this beautiful car has only covered a 62, 800 miles in its 49 years.
The exterior looks superb and the colour suits it very well, the panels are straight and rust free and only a few small imperfections bely the age of the car. The interior really is remarkable and remains in fantastic condition with no tears or obvious signs of wear. The switch gear and control function as well as you would expect of a BMW of this era.
To drive, it really is a treat, it starts first time, selects gears easily and precisly and the suspension and steering give it a light and nimble feel on the road. The performance is reasonable being a light car and the 1573cc engine provides a smooth delivery. It is really one of those classics that doesnt feel it age and you have no worries it will get you where you want to go.
It’s recently been treated to another £2400 worth of work which included a complete cylinder head overhaul with new valves, guides, tappets, gaskets and seals, so as it stands it wants for nothing.
This realls it a rare opportunity to buy a sorted and sought after appreciating classic bmw in a stunning colour which attracts attention wherever it goes.
A larger history file compliments the car with many receipts dating back from 1977 and includes original parking discs, owners manuals and BMW service literature.
As with any classic car that’s been loved and with an older restoration it does show signs of use and some small defects to the paintwork as to be expected but this in no way detracts from its overall appearance and are only visible on close inspection.
It runs and drives beautifully and does everything you could ask of it. Mot and Tax exempt and categorised as historic so you can own and enjoy this classic BMW for the cost of insurance.
