Beautiful mid 70s Super Beetle. Tax and MOT exempt. Slightly longer with the curved windscreen and ‘modern’ dashboard makes for more space in the cabin. McPherson suspension and front disc brakes make for more modern feeling driving. The LS (Lux spec) comes with a fan* for the windscreen and a dash clock (still working). Cheap to run and maintain classic that turns heads and elicits smiles.
* Was seized so replaced with new and keeps the screen lovely and clear.
Since owning carried out the following: Electronic points and Petronix coil so runs like or better than new, reset and improved the twin Weber carbs, new headlights, back bumper rubber, hood seals, inner door cards, fuel lines, new sill strengtheners, new windscreen fan, Porsche steering wheel.
I've fitted refurbished mark II Golf seats that are super comfortable for our longer journeys, the original seats are available if desired or needed. I have used and maintained as a daily driver and remains in use until sold. Still have the original user manual. Not mint but really lovely.
Also worth mentioning that I am actively looking for a tiptop beetle so would be open to swaps plus cash. Originally from Berlin but imported into the UK in 1984 and lived in London for many years. Ended up in Sheffield and was, for a time, a wedding car. Was used as my son’s wedding car too!
Serviced and maintained by Quayside Motors, VW specialists in Cattesdown Plymouth - highly recommended- who have looked after the car like it was their own.
Easy to drive, buzzes along happily at 60 with no steering wobble, 28 mpg average, no tax needed, no mot needed, ulez free, easy gear change, excellent gear box, Blaupunkt dab radio with blue tooth.
Cheap to insure and maintain with so many companies supplying spares. Comfortable and quiet if you don’t press it but quite quick if you do.
Always gets noticed and makes peeps smile especially when the tops down. Driven down through France and loved the French N roads.
