Description
Audi Quattro 225. Low mileage, rust free example. TT owners club car. Shown at 2 classic car shows last year. Bought from a local classic car dealer last year for £2750 and Ive spent about £1600 on it, but purchase of a lotus Elan and sudden retirement and associated downsizing forces
a regrettable sale. I've done about 2000 miles in a year as the car was on classic car insurance. Lovely strong engine and superb 4 wheel drive make this car a joy to drive and it always puts a smile on my face. Black leather interior, Steers straight, pulls up straight. I had this car up for £3995 in January which seemed the middle ground as far as prices for early TTs goes. However... the irritating noise that I thought was exhaust rattling turns out to be the VVT solenoid.
Since I have had the car, I had done the following: new battery, rear brake caliper, coolant flush, new cats and new big bore exhaust. Sump dropped, new oil pickup pipe last week.
Is obviously now the vvt solenoid that needs replacing as it rattles when warm. Whilst having the oil changed a kind person reversed into the near side front wing leaving a small dent (look at picture). There is a good direct replacement on ebay for £120, paint code LZ6W or you could possibly do a smart repair.
So faults: vvt solenoid and chain
Dented wing in otherwise superb bodywork and air con needs recharging.
Plusses:recent thermostat snd radiator, new cats, exhaust, battery, 4 almost new matching michelin tyres. Excellent condition and could be shown as is.
Ideally, this is a bargain for someone who can do the work themselves, but I have factored in the work on engine to be around £1000 (with the cambelt and waterpump at same time) the new wing ((£120 in correct colour), so I'm asking
£1050ono which is very low for a quick hassle free transaction to someone that is mechanically minded and understands what I am selling (not someone that is hoping to get a faultless cheap TT and starts finding fault in everything upon viewing). This is a project: it drives excellently but the vvt will need doing sooner rather than later. You will be getting an expensive car at a bargain price. If this doesnt sell quickly I'll do the repairs and put it back up for the previous asking price. Thanks for looking.
