Overview:In pristine original time warp condition, near concours example. Presented exactly as it left the Zuffenhausen factory in 2002. The special order polar silver paintworks is gleaming and unmarked and a particular highlight with its subtle blue hue. The iconic rear reflector strip running the entire width of the car is a unique feature among the 996 generation of 911, which only featured on the C4S model. Passenger and rear seats have never been sat in and present as new. Values are now finally starting to firm on this undervalued piece of Porsche history. One of the most handsome looking Porches, especially the rear and side views - not sure there is a more classic profile of 911 in coupe form. A correct manual 996 C4S is a joy to drive with its 320bhp naturally aspirated powerplant and is becoming quite a rare sight nowadays with even the most recent examples being well over 20 years old. Feels considerably lighter, more nimble and compact than the 991 and 992 generations of 911. Would be a glorious counterpoint to those newer generation turbocharged cars, for fair-weather blasts down B-roads. The induction roar from a naturally aspirated 911 is pure joy. As for the fabled headlights - these have aged like a fine wine and, after all, they are good enough for the legendary GT1. With only 2 owners from new and a barely run in 10, 600 miles this must be one of the very finest examples in existence. Has been in the continuous ownership of a serious Porsche car collector for the past 18 years and is a very reluctant sale to fund and make space for a new vehicle. The first owner had the car for five years and was the chief executive of a building society, who bought the car as an early retirement present using it sparingly for his last few commutes to Swindon. Running the carandclassic valuation tool, this car carries a current guide of £58, 445. A sound investment, especially when considering that an equivalent 993 version of the C4S, this car's predecessor, would sell for around three times as much! A museum piece like this is as rare as it gets. It even still has the factory cushioning tape on the underside of the bonnet! Plus the under bonnet white ID sticker is also still intact.
A stunning addition to any credible Porsche collection. The 996 is now being seen as an important marker in the history of Porsche, representing the first in the water cooled lineage. Solid investment potential for a blue chip example such as this. A one-off and unrepeatable.
The original 2002 invoice supplied with the car confirms the huge factory specification of this vehicle and an Options Total alone of £7, 914 - a considerable sum of money 23 years ago:
