Description
Hello all, I’m reluctantly selling my Mk1 Golf Gti 1. 8 1983 finished in mars red.
I now have a young family and the mk1 simply isn’t getting use enough which is why I’m deciding to sell to fund a more useable car.
This car has been in my ownership for 10 years. I collected the car needing quite a bit of work required. It ended up needing an engine rebuild due to oil burning, I have the block machined, the crankshaft re ground and everything in between. I believe the bill totalled a couple of thousand including tappets, crank seals, housings, pistons etc…. I have piles of paperwork dating back to new, I have the original bill of sale, and also memorabilia that a kind person sent as his grandad owned the dealership my car was sold from! (See photos)
The car is a lovely example, not a show car prestige condition but a very nice useable example that gets lots of comments. The wheel well has no signs of rust along with the struts, mounting points and other known areas (I did have the bulkhead repaired where the clutch cable pulls through, it has been done extremely well)
There is marks here and there, but for the age it’s still good. I added the bbs front valance to give it more of a different look which is quite a rare part however this can be removed if someone wanted the original gti look.
The suspension is basically brand new, the drive shafts, bottom arms, top mounts, wheel bearings are all only a few thousand mile old.
The tyres are brand new only a 100 mile ago fitted on 15” Pirelli p slots with centres caps which are also extremely rare.
The brakes are i believe g60? So 14” alloys do not fit. The car has braided fuel lines, some other subtle upgrades including a Kent gs2 cam, vernier pulley to improve performance. I do have the original parts also to include. The gearbox has been reconditioned also.
I had the bumpers re conditioned which look great, I put period correct headlights in due to it having some cross hare glass ones.
The exhaust is a 421 sprint speed manifold with a stainless system (sounds lovely without being too much)
The interior is nice and clean. Not been smoked in, the bolster has the common issue with the tear but apart from that it’s original, the clock buzzer sometimes goes of but simply turning the car on and off sorts it! Clocks have been changed so the mileage is more I believe
The car has been under sealed and is in good condition, the sills have been jacked up on but aren’t rusting.
I have accumulated 3-4 Pirelli centre caps, a heckblende part to slot between the rear lights, TWO BBS steering wheels, a wolfsburg steering wheel, and also a hella spoiler for the car. I have boxes of spare parts at my parents which I think include rear lights and some engine stuff.
This car is now tax exempt; and mot exempt which makes them cheap to run!
It’s been featured in PVW. Which is a nice think to have with the car also. Please feel free to call, text or email. Happy to discuss the car further, open to offers also.
Thank you
