Description

This Landy is reliable, recently she completed a 600 mile single trip, last month she drove 200 motorway-miles none-stop, she’s driven-daily, she won’t let you down.

This Landy is also safe, supplied with 12 months MOT and no advisories. You and your children can feel safe. The MOT cost me several thousand pounds, however being ex-law I know how deadly relying on mot exemption can be, how it most often totally voids insurance policies, with insurance companies refusing claims where a vehicle is not kept to a safe standard, despite exemption.

She’s the iconic rag-top and the sought after 88 inch short-wheel-base, finished in the iconic Marine Blue x tan, sat on a very expensive Galvanised chassis so that you do not have to worry about rust. She is upgraded with power steering which makes the usual heavy steering effortless, plus parabolic springs and free-wheeling hubs to make her more useable.

Her engine is beautiful (re-manufactured 20, 000 miles previously), built to a performance specification (Turner engines) firing instantly, settling into the sort of rhythmic purr that car people listen to and say “that’s a nice engine”. These engines cost circa £4000 today. Her gearbox is tort and correct, no slop, no crunching like most. Her transfer box isn’t worn, she has a new prop-shaft and reconditioned front-differential, new shock absorbers, she drives exactly as she should in both four and two wheel drive (utilising free wheeling hubs). All electronics work perfectly, her heater blows lovely and warm. She’s the most comfortable Land Rover I have ever driven, on road and over bumps, albeit still throws you around like a hot potato and has the usual steering play, I guess that’s the fun.

I have serviced her engine and brakes and fitted a new Weber upgraded carburettor before taking her to be professionally tuned by a well known company, optimising her power. She performs well, keeping up with modern and motorway traffic, never overheating.

She has refurbished wheels wrapped around brand new tyres (slightly wider for a more comfortable ride), a newish Exmoor hood wrapped around a sound body with slight patina.

Something I love about her is the humongous history folder, spanning decades of maintenance, it’s a beautiful record.

Other extras include her door side windows, sound system and working tow bar, reversing cameras etc.

I love this car, but I need the money for building works. If you purchase her, you will be able to drive her home, no need for a trailer. She’s just a fantastic, reliable and a highly specified example of such an iconic model.
