I bought the Discovery in Muscat Oman in 2014. It is a 1998 V8i Auto FXi 50th Anniversary model. It is a Left Hand Drive model with no sunroof and fitted with Land Rover Wolf steel wheels. It had two previous British owners in Oman who were both known to me. It has an extensive service history from Oman. When I bought the Discovery it needed a new petrol tank and petrol pump, all the rubber door seals and window seals were replaced. The drivers seat cushion was replaced as was the headlining and various other pieces of trim. The body is in great condition and is still in its original paint. All parts used were genuine Land Rover parts and all the work was done by the main Land Rover Dealer in Muscat, Oman. In 2015 my work took me to Dubai in the UAE and of course my Discovery came with me. While in Dubai it was professionally fitted with a very good condition replacement engine by a well known Land Rover specialist. This is recorded in the service history. The Discovery was maintained regardless of cost. In 2018 myself and family were returning to the UK and of course the Discovery was coming with me. I shipped it to Athens and then drove it back to Scotland. That adventure was written about in an article in the Classic Land Rover magazine in February 2023. On arrival in the UK it was professionally rust proofed as it was totally rust free. I sold the vehicle in 2021 to a friend to look after as I was working back in Oman but bought it back in 2024 as we returned to the UK. It is still in almost rust free condition with only some minor rust showing in the rear wheel arches. I have however decided to sell the Discovery as we are concentrating our resources on our Defender Camper. The Discovery is MOT’d to 25 August 2025, it is in excellent condition mechanically and the body is superb. It currently needs a new exhaust and has an intermittent idling problem due to an electrical gremlin. Hence this exceptional Discovery is being advertised at a reduced price of £4, 250.
