1986 1. 9 dg T3 transporter Autohomes Kameo conversion. £4500 ovno
It is with the deepest regret that we are parting with our much loved van but we have out grown her and so now looking for its new owner to continue its fun filled adventures. We have been the custodians of this great van since 2009. Used for annual spring/ summer trips around the uk and weekend outings. Likes to be driven, regularly serviced. Engine runs and sounds sweet. However we have had it over heat on us on 3 occasions all coincided with v long journeys and/ or in traffic in hot weather. Has had Coolant leaks with the old pipework which got renewed where required. It has been kept in a dry garage since 2010. We are the 6th registered keepers. MOTd till August. All our service history, receipts and manuals included. All new parts usually from Brickwerks, Heritage, JK, SHC or Camper Van Culture. The previous owners were a retired couple, VW enthusiasts and had the 1. 9dg wbx engine rebuilt by a VW specialist in Hull. It has covered 40k miles since that rebuild. The vehicle is in superb dry condition, solid underneath.
Bodywork - Parking ding by PO still evident (never bothered us). Some surface rust but nothing serious. Has the usual seam rash typical of its age which had been treated with rust inhibitor and touched over with white hamerite to protect when we bought the van. This has not progressed since we’ve garaged it but new owner should keep an eye on it. Front bumper replaced and excellent welding work carried out to bulkhead in usual rust spot. Small welding repair carried out adjacent to jacking point for 2018 MOT. Interior - All Original intact and working Autohomes interior, 2 berth + Kids cab bunk from Kiravans. High top with vast storage cupboards, Gas hob and grill, sink, electrolux 3 way fridge, zig unit split charging, water tank, propex compact heater. (Never used heater new owner should get serviced b4 use) New leisure battery 2024. Passenger swivel seat. Rear seat belts. Phillips cd/ dab radio stereo. 1 cab speaker needs looking at. Porta potti in home built ‘Devon style’ buddy box seat. ‘outdoor revolution’ drive away awning included. This huge awning can be sub divided to give a 4 berth sleeping compartment or left out to give a v generous awning space. Tow bar and bike rack. Ready for summer camping. Fuel lines replaced 2023. Coolant flush carried out 2024. New polyflex ARB and drop link bushes replaced 2023. Recent new alternator belt. Lots of other bits included in sale. 4 x 16” Porsche boxster alloys. Staggered Rear 7j = ET 40 Front 6j = ET 50 . 20mm H&R pcd adaptors (still boxed) included. Polyflex steering rack bushes, 4 x Bilstein b8 sport shocks, polyflex short bump stops - new owner would just need to get short springs to lower it. 2x Rear wheel cylinders. All still in boxes never fitted. Steering wheel changed for a later Caravelle version. Original included as a spare. Brand new Steering cowl with switch option never fitted. Reluctant sale of much loved van. Msg for more info. My wife and I bought this van for summer camping trips to explore the uk and getaways at weekends. It has its original all working Autohomes interior and equipment that makes for easy and comfortable camping. Compact and practical. It won’t win any medals for speed and economy but it happily keeps up with modern traffic. Slow and steady on hills, happily cruises at 60-65 on motorways(70+ down hills with a tailwind!). Original decals and stripes provide its period character and charm.
