* New Photos added*. My car was a December 1981 build (VIN 10023) which makes her a 1982 car built in Dunmurray, Belfast. I bought her from Beverly Hills Car Club (BHCC) in Los Angeles and imported her to the UK in 2020. Prior to BHCC buying her she had been stored in a plane hanger for 20 years.
It has been very much a labour of love (most of the time!) to update where needed and tidy her up, spending in excess of £4000. I have attended numerous car shows and the car always creates a lot of interest (and smiles!)
I have a folder and spreadsheet detailing all purchases, dates and costs available to any interested party. Starts and drives well, but there are still things to do, she is 43 years old though. It is now time to pass her along to a new owner. I have the original panel from behind the cargo net un-molested safe in my house, having made a replacement board for the Pioneer speakers. The “bad” bits…. new door seals needed (not leaking, just a bit shabby), small dent over rear wheel arch and when I got the car one of the boot hinges was very stiff and has pulled the stainless a bit (see picture) nothing that Chris Nicholson couldn’t sort I’m just too far away from Essex. This is cheaper than buying and importing a car from the US!I always wanted a Delorean and this does precede the Back to the Future franchise of films.
When out driving people literally stop and stare and whip out their phones to take a picture. Always allow longer if you are going to fill up or nip to the shops as you will, almost certainly end up talking to someone about the car. I missed out on one a few years before which was half the price but it is what it is, I still had to own one. 2025 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Back to the Future film so interest in the car is heightened. Contrary to many peoples belief parts for the car are readily available in both the UK and in EUROPE. There is a vibrant Owners Club who organise meets and drives and there is always someone who can help with any questions.
