1931 Austin Heavy 12/ 4 Burnham Saloon
This beautiful Austin Heavy 12/ 4 Burnham Saloon was first registered on the 7th February 1931 and still retains its original registration mark GN 4829.
The previous owner to me bought the car in 2006 and soon spent serious money on substantial mechanical work. The engine was rebuilt to include re-metalled con-rods and new pistons, re-faced head, new valve springs, re-conditioned oil pump, and a balanced flywheel. Further work carried out at the same time included a clutch rebuild, re-conditioned Autovac, rebuilt dynamo, re-lined brakes and much, much more. The Austin had also had an early electronic ignition system fitted which has proved to be a boon in starting and has given faultless service. (All original bills/ invoices on file). Other than servicing materials the only expenses in my ownership have been a replacement battery and a professionally overhauled starter motor. From that major restoration approximately 6000 miles have been covered. In my ownership for the last thirteen years the car has regularly been on the show scene, and has been the choice as the Brides wedding car for three relatives.
The Austin is presented superbly with a clean engine bay, good paintwork, delightful interior, beautiful aged upholstery and door cards, excellent chrome and a very high level of detail throughout the car. On the road it is a true delight and having had such a comparatively recent expense, the Austin rides perfectly, has strong running gear and is totally reliable. A beautiful pre-war Austin that will give superb service, looks gorgeous, is comfortable, and provides endless pleasure. I am only selling due to current ill health.
