Volkswagen Golf C 'Tintop,' 1982 Swedish Import, LHD.
Original 1588cc engine with original Keihin carburettor and emissions set up, 4 speed gearbox.
Original interior with factory option seats as shown on rear panel tag.
Front orange tag is present on the front panel, still showing it's VW/ Audi panel stamp.
Original floors, doors, bonnet, quarters, roof, front/ rear panels.
Registered 28th September 1982. Second owner bought the car 29th October 1986 and owned it until 30th July 2021.
I purchased it 10th December 2022. It had been imported but nothing had been done apart from the NOVA. I got it registered on UK plates and restored it.
I scanned all the original documents before sending them off to the DVLA.
I have the original keys but I have also had new keys made to preserve the originals.
I did some repairs to the inner sills, fitted new outer sills, rear inner arches, outer rear arches. Fitted cheap front wings which I'm not happy about the fitment but the plan was to get genuine wings at a later date.
Serviced the engine, oil, filter, plugs, new water pump, new fuel lines, brake lines, fuel hoses, powerflex bushes front and uprated rear axle bushes, vented discs up front, new pads, new rear shoes, cylinders.
Fuel tank removed and cleaned.
Aftermarket GTi exhaust system from downpipe. Tail pipe relocated to straight instead of side ways.
Currently on coilovers but the new standard shocks I originally bought with new -60mm lowering springs will be included if coilovers are too harsh for you.
7. 5x16 Lenso reps alloys with new 195/ 45/ 16 tyres with dice caps. New wheel bolts with Locking bolts.
I have fitted a deep dish steering wheel but I still have the factory option sports steering wheel (as noted on the rear panel tag)
I have fitted an 8 ball pool ball for my gearknob but I still have the original gearknob.
There is a retro gearbox tunnel tray fitted.
The rear cards were peeling so I tried to restore them but had no luck. Since the door cards and rear parcel shelf very uniquely had no speaker holes, I chose to make new rear cards in order to fit Fly speakers. CD player will be included. The original rear cards and vinyl will be included in the sale if you fancy trying to get them restored professionally.
I still have the original 13" steels with winter metal studded tyres so if you didn't want the 16's I will knock £500 off and put the steels on.
It is missing the interior hockey sticks. The outer ones were perished so I simply put the interior ones to the exterior.
Original grill and badge. I have fitted an eyebrow spoiler.
New waist line trim and clips.
New headlights to change them to RHD.
New rear lights.
The bumpers are standard later bumpers but with the plastic removed the metal lips removed and small bumper caps fitted.
The arch lips have been folded for clearance.
Original colour Arctic White. Has been resprayed in Standofleet 2K. I painted it in my workshop with a view to redo it at a later point at one of the bodyshops I work at but I hadn't been able to do it. I got this car on the road March 2023 and it still looks great anyway. I painted it bit by bit as the plan was to do a full final respray in the end.
There is a chip on the windscreen but doesn't affect vision. It's not the original screen as it's been replaced at some point.
Original stickers has been left on the car, a service sticker on the dash, driver's door shut, a college permit on the glovebox and a sticker on the passenger rear side quarter glass.
I haven't done a lot of miles on it but me and my son did do a 1200 mile road trip in Germany, Holland and Belgium in October 2023. It got a lot of attention. It performed 100% But since then I have to admit I haven't done much other than a few local shows, taken it to the Isle of Wight, Goodwood and Cornwall. I'd much rather it go to someone who will use it instead of me cleaning it all the time.
Priced on originality and condition of the car. I am not in need of money so offers will mostly be ignored. I'll hold onto it as I will still take it out to a few shows or a drive here and then.
Spots of minor rust coming through on the front lower section of the drivers door and a tiny bit on the driver's side rear under the light, see photos.
I have all photos of the work I did. I'll put them on a USB Stick for the buyer. Originality, 2nd owner was a lady who owned it for 34 years and 8 months.
