1958 Dkw AUTO UNION 1000 pillarless Coupe
3 cylinder two stroke with 4 speed "Saxomat" semi-automatic gearbox and freewheel system (working).
MOT with no advisories from May '24 and with a clear "Experian" HPI report.
Charming, stylish, reliable & drives well.
Owned since September 2022; offered for sale as I have two other classics so it doesn't get used enough.
Approx. £4300 spent on parts & garage/ specialist labour including: adjusting doors & windows to fit/ operate correctly; replacing front shocks, wishbone bushes, tie rod, gear selector cable, clutch, spark plugs, 4 new tyres; checks & improvements to: Saxomat system, brakes, steering, suspension, wiring, distributor, timing, general checks throughout, servicing & lubrication etc.
Additional work by me includes: replacing both cill box section bases, at the same time internally protecting with "Jenolite" & hi-zinc content weld-through paint protection, stripping car underside/ boot floor/ concealed base areas below rear side windows, adding drain holes where prudent & 2 coats of light grey stone-chip paint finish to car underside (NO underseal). Engine & radiator reverse-flush cleaned.
