Description
Early example of this good-looking and rare car. No 3 out of a production run of 127.
Exported to USA in 1948 apparently with a view to setting up an agency for LF. Still retains its American radio and tail lights. Brought back to UK in 1989, when substantial refurbishment work was carried out by Barrie Price. Originally metallic blue with blue interior, it was repainted red at this time and re trimmed in light tan leather with matching carpets. Leather and carpets remain in very good condition but paintwork though photographing well does have a number of chips and it could do with re spraying.
In the intervening years, previous owners have replaced the core plugs, fuel pump and water pump impeller, re-cored the radiator, cleaned and re-sealed the fuel tank, replaced the clutch plate and fitted spin-off oil filter.
Mechanically, the car runs well and was thoroughly checked over when I bought it last year, with work to the steering alignment, shock absorbers and brakes and the fitting of 4 new tyres, as well as re-setting the timing and refurbishing the carburettors.
I had expected to continue to ‘use and improve’, but ill health has unfortunately got in the way.
