Description

For sale - my 1980 304 SL estate. I've owned this for nearly 15 years and as you can tell I haven't quite got round to finishing it! It's soooo close. But I don't have the time so I'm thinking it would be better off with someone who has.

So, I bought the car from Liverpool with ca. 56000 on it. I drove it for 2 weeks and then it failed its MOT. Badly! So I launched a full resto. It was taken to Lust for Rust in Yalding where it was stripped to a shell, and blasted before Tony spent the best part of 3 years welding in NOS panels (all genuine Peugeot) or, where they were not available, fabricating them (I think it's only the offside rear door shut that I couldn't find). Once done, it was repainted in as close as possible to it's original beige. It's a full respray - underneath and on top. The underside is clear undersealed. The headlining was professionally installed, as was the fuel tank, fuel lines and brake pipes. I refurbished the rear axle and front subframe (freshly powdercoated), rebuilt the dampers and refitted the engine.

All that is left is;

Finish off the dashboard install
Fit the exhaust (a new one comes with the car)
Fit front driveshafts (rebuilt and come with the car)
Refit front brake calipers (I had the old ones rebuilt by BiggRed but put them on my 305, so the originals are with the car - they could do with a refurb)
Time the engine and fit clutch/ accelerator cable
Fill with fuel
Start!

I've simply run out of enthusiasm, so hope someone will finish her, but if there are no takers I will!

The car comes with SO MANY spares. A full set of estate glass (mega rare), NOS lights (all the ones on the car are brand new but there's a full set of spares), genuine Peugeot roof rack and so many bits I can't list them all.

The wheels were professionally repainted and had new tyres on 5 years ago.

It's absolutely mint. The driver's seat I have by the way. The only things missing are the carpet (the old one was rotten).

I don't know how to value it as an on-going project. I have just short of £20k invested in it, so it's a bargain really! Feel free to email me to discuss - the dust comes free :) Car will obviously need trailering away (from Canterbury, Kent). I have the V5 and 1 original key. This model is super rare! It's the last year of 304 production, so the front subframe is actually from a Mk1 305. Ask me how I know... OK, I'll tell you. I had one of those too and they are the same. I know of only 1 other estate (it's actually 1 year newer).
