VW Golf 2002 Mk4 Tdi 1. 9 SE PD100, selling as I have been gifted a more modern Golf Plus GT. The car is ultra reliable and is returning between 65 to 68 mpg on my fortnightly run to Hampshire and back using V-Power. Viewing recommended close to J25 M1 Nottingham. Mileage is currently 168010, but will increase slightly as still in regular use. Last engine service was five weeks ago. MOT is due January 2026. Tax is around £115 per year if memory serves, check up yourself to see if this has changed since April 1st. Previous paperwork / receipts / handbook is with the car. I have the V5C logbook in my name and two keys. Ideal as a low cost commuter car etc.
Good points:
Serviced every 3000 miles by myself (I'm a retired Rolls Royce technical inspector).
Owned by myself and my ex-partner and has never let either of us down.
Cheap to run, high 60's mpg on a run with V-Power.
High comfort level as not a sports model.
The car will happily drive the length of the UK and back, my most common occurring trip is 330 miles in a day.
Bad Points:
The air con blows the same temperature as ambient air, most likely the refrigerant is empty.
The stereo had a fault that was draining the battery, so the stereo fuse has been taken out to stop this.
Cam belt is due renewal by mileage accrual.
Lots of small stone chip marks showing on the bonnet, and on forward faces of the wing mirrors.
The glove box catch would not latch, so a small rotary latch has been fitted to do the same job.
A few hand paint touch ups can be seen close up, but are in the correct VW Tornado Red.
