Description
I've owned this bike for 10 years since buying from an importer (South Africa) in 2015. For a few years I got her MOT'd but registered her as Historic and MOT exempt.
She went through an extensive mechanical renovation in 2011 and did very few miles until imported (the previous owner also emigrated to UK at the same time to confirm this to me personally). The speedo is a UK replacement and shows about 7750 (will go up with use) but since the renovation I estimate she's done a lot less.
This past year a comprehensive cosmetic restoration has taken place, with a powder-coated frame and new paintwork. She looks fabulous and has been a joy to ride.
She's got a crank-mounted electronic ignition system, a handlebar brake master cylinder, San Jose fork brace and decent adjustable damping Hagons. She's just had a full service including fork, brake, engine and all transmission oils and fresh filters. A pair of Krauser panniers go with her. With matching numbers (4080978) she's a great investment and is ready to be enjoyed. I've always loved this colour of R90S - it got the 'Daytona' moniker because they won the very first AMA Superbike Race at Daytona International Speedway in 1976, indeed, they won the AMA Superbike Championship overall, Reg Pridmore took the honour.
A British rider, on a German motorcycle, winning an American title. BMW never looked back.
This bike has a throaty roar and pulls very keenly. She looks stunning again in her new paintwork and always draws attention.
