Selling on behalf of my father in law who has decided to thin out his car collection. A very rare sight these days and a real slice of the eighties and an ever popular limited edition, the 1989 Austin Mini Designer.
Finished in gleaming gloss black. Only 2000 of these unique limited editions were produced, designed by fashion designer Mary Quant in two colours, black or white.
They were styled with Nimbus grey bumpers, grille and headlamp rings. The interior was given a full makeover with black & white striped seats, red seat belts and s leather steering wheel with a 'Daisy' motif in the centre that is Mary Quants emblem.
This 'Designer' has benefitted from a thorough restoration to a very good standard supported by a comprehensive set of photographs detailing each stage. There is also a comprehensive parts list detailing the new parts having been fitted.
On the road the `Mini drives extremely well. The original 998 engine snd gearbox have been fully rebuilt and is super smooth. Performance is brisk and the car easily keeps up with modern traffic. This model also sports dic brakes.
As mentioned 'Designer' Minis were given a very stylish interior and this one has retained all of its original features. It certainly stands out from the crowd making it a very desirable model for collectors. The car is also fitted with rear seat belts, an uprated Pioneer stereo system and a 12v socket.
This Mini has a very solid shell and as mentioned a great deal of time and money has been spent achieving its current condition.
The Mini has enjoyed new running gear, new brakes, new suspension and a new rear sub-frame. The mini has body coloured floor pans and has been wax oiled. The paintwork is outstanding and is virtually unmarked. The engine is nicely detailed in period correct colours.
The Mini has just flown through its MOT and is tested until 25th April 2026.
This is a very good looking Mini and is huge fun to drive. There were only 2000 of this model made and they are becoming more rare every day as they are getting snapped up and put into private collections. This car has already undergone a substantial restoration which was fully documented and the history folder will accompany the vehicle.
It can only ever increase in value making a sound investment for the future.
