Description
Previously enjoyed US specification Citroen SM auto that has been resting for most of this century under a tree before being rudely shoved onto a transporter and taken halfway across the country.
Bought with another which I intend to restore, so usual story - too many projects, the hamster ate my homework etc, you know the drill.
As you can see it is a project requiring a few weekends work to get it back on the road... assuming you are familiar with a welder or know someone who can, that is. Yes there are corrosion holes in the chassis that you can put your hand through, but the floors are remarkably sound.
I have the V5, the engine turns, but no attempt has been made to start it and it looks to be pretty complete overall and I have washed it. Which is nice.
The brown leather interior will require considerable love to resuscitate it, or be recovered - your choice. The seats are loosely fitted and the carpets are non-existent, so the chassis inside may be inspected.
The dashboard has been trimmed in black leather (but not the glovebox lid(!)) and there are 74000 miles on the speedo. As far as I know at the time of writing this is the most affordable SM on the market, and the discerning amongst you will have realised that you cannot quite drive it home once purchased, but a trailer would be fine to get it to your desired location in that regard.
There are shafts of wood in the suspension cylinders that is why it is sitting so high. It is not because the engine is running or anything working properly. Just wanted to be clear on that point.
I am happy to answer any questions and post more pictures as requested.
Feel free to make me a rude offer, as I might accept, or politely refuse, but you'll never know until you try.
To tempt you further I have, (as a separate deal) to the buyer of this one, a much better chassis which could come with all the parts to convert to manual, a good tailgate and bonnet if wished.
