For sale my 1965 genuine factory built Thruxton Bonneville 650.
Historically very important for Triumph, built at the Meridan factory on the 18th December 1964. Chassis and frame number DU16910, the second ever road going motorcycle to be built by the works with the Thruxton Bonneville name. Before this the factory only built race bikes or sold performance kits to enhance your standard road T120 for racing. In May 1965 Triumph built 52 main batch Thruxtons , proceeding this 4 other Thruxtons were made by the factory for shows and publicity, DU15352 for Earls Court and then GBH 525C. Later two more were built after this for the Blackpool Motorcycle Show in 1965. These four bikes were generally built to the 1964 race specifications because not all the 1965 parts were ready, but actually this detracts nothing from the performance.
DU16910 was owned for many years and restored by Mr H Dickson, the gentleman who started the Thruxton register. This machine is in almost show condition and is still running in. It runs exceptionally well and has been paraded around Goodwood circuit at the Revival in 2023. Benefitting from the later, tucked-in exhaust down pipes, Thruxton silencers and electronic ignition. Correct central float monobloc carburettors, ace-bars and racing seat. This machine is in good enough condition to show but more importantly it can also be regularly ridden and used. I believe this very important bike will hold its value much better than almost any other Triumph and is very fairly priced at £19, 999 ovno, considering it's history.
Remember She is the second proper Thruxton ever to leave Meridan factory!
