Description
Aunt Aggie,
Not what she seems on the face of it, this is a car with hidden depths and one or two surprises! Being a very handsome owner driver continental sports saloon, Blockley tyres, with twin side mounted spare wheels, louvred bonnet & scuttle, 'trouser crease' wings etc, in wonderfully original, but superficially shabby condition. Believed to be the brochure car for Freestone and Webb sporting the signature trouser crease wings,
‘Aunt Aggie’ was in storage for 47 years from 1966 to 2013, , having at that time been with one family since 1959. Since then, in excess of £50, 000 has been spent on some excellent re-commissioning work, including an engine re-furbishment with new cylinder block, radiator re-core, excellent quality re-wiring in correct, cotton-covered cable, rebuilt wheels with new tyres, overdrive and a great deal more in the way of mechanical refreshing, stabilisation and preserving resulting in a sound, reliable, useable car, which has completed many events both in the UK and abroad. The cosmetics as a whole are very scruffy indeed, but utterly original. Good solid Ash frame and firm body. An honest and rare car with complete matching numbers even to under trays. Aunt Aggie is a wonderfully original old girl that out strips the ‘Barn find’ as a very competent and useable non molested and over restored example.
