Description
Sadly selling my well cared-for and much-loved R53 Cooper S.
The most fun car I've owned and it's in very good condition throughout. Looked after by a local independent mini specialist who confirmed it drives really nicely and has a sweet engine.
Completely stock, not messed around with in any way.
Recent clutch and power steering pump, two of the biggies where R53s are concerned. New rear discs for the last MOT.
Mechanically very solid. No knocks or rattles from the suspension. Windows open as they should when opening and closing the doors.
The paint is very good, though has a couple of very minor scuffs and dings, as you'd expect with a 20 year old car. Panel gaps are all consistent and no evidence of any crash damage.
The interior is very clean. No tears or excessive wear to the cloth seats. Apparently the cloth seats are superior to the leather option, which you tend to slide around on.
Desirable Chrono clocks pack, with speedo and rev counter in front of the driver. Oil pressure, water temperature and fuel in the centre. Panoramic sunroof is fully functional. Pioneer DAB/ Bluetooth radio with hands-free fitted last year.
Tax and MOT till November. Last serviced at the time of the MOT.
ULEZ compliant.
I bought this 18 months ago as a long-term keeper, but circumstances have changed and I can no longer justify being a 2 car family. It’s fabulous to drive and offers proper performance. The supercharger whine just adds to the fun! A much better proposition than a standard R50 Cooper, in my mind.
I'll be genuinely sorry to see it go, but go it must, so I'm open to sensible offers. The R53 is as close as you can get being genuinely usable modern classic. Seats for 4, enough mod cons while still being a completely analogue experience. Great performance, easily upgradable, extensive parts availability and an amazing owners’ community around it. For my money, it’s the best choice out there. Wish I could keep it!!
