Jensen Interceptor MK11 6. 3l

This late Interceptor 11 left the factory in June 1971 as 1 of just 694 RHD models produced and 1 of only 43 in striking Tangerine paint.

Early documentation, including original factory production line notes, warranty claims and some servicing invoices, detail the first two owners and show it was still with the second owner at the end of 1972. It had a further 4 owners up until 1984, when it was purchased by a Mr Skinner. He owned the car until 1998 and then passed it on to his son, who kept it until 2016. I became the 9th owner in November 2016 and I spoke to Mr Skinner Snr, (who was then in his 80s) who spoke fondly of his times blasting around in the Jensen, but warned of the 9mpg that came with a heavy right foot!

My intention was to do a full restoration, including a return to the Tangerine paint from the silver that it had been changed to at some point. Since then it's been moved around my lock up waiting for some attention (along with several other projects), and I've now decided that I'm never going to have the time to do it properly and want to give that opportunity to someone else.

This is very much a restoration project and as such will need repairs to floors and sills, although the boot floor appears sound. Underneath has a lot of surface rust, but the structural members all seem solid and are still covered in factory underseal. There are areas of rust around the body, but the tangerine paint is visible in many areas, suggesting the car is mostly original. The last tax disc that I have expired in Dec 2009, so I’m assuming it has been off the road since then and will obviously need a mechanical overhaul too.

All of the exterior trim seems to be there, some of which may polish up, others will need re-chroming, including the bumpers. The glass is also all in very good condition.

The interior will need a re-trim and new carpets, although the dash and centre console are in reasonable condition. Door cards and seatbelts are not present. The previous owner was planning his own restoration and a number of items of trim that were removed are still in the boxes that they came in when I purchased the car. Interior photos make it look like there is a lot of rust inside, but this is mostly glue that was left behind when the carpets were removed.

The engine starts easily and revs freely, and the auto box selects forward and reverse gears without any issues.

Happy to do a video call/ walk around if you can’t get here to view the car in person.

I’ll also look at a part exchange or straight swap with something newer. Preferably a small manual for a learner or an automatic estate, but anything considered.
