Description
This classic bike has had two owners. It comes with a Steib LS 200 sidecar with quality thick red leather upholstery. This can be purchased separately for £4k.
Originally imported from Holland from a private owner. At one point the bike was insured in Turkey but then back to Holland back in the late 1990s. I have the BMW factory letter of provenance, the NL documentation, UK V5 registration, import docs and receipts for all parts.
The engine and frame numbers are matching.
The bike has been comprehensively bee rebuilt in the last 10 years to include many new parts and restorative work. Paint was new and still looking nice and shiny. Wheels rebuilt with Wyman rims, brake and shoes. Wheel bearings, all shock absorbers including steering head bearings, speedo, electrical distribution keyboard inside front lamp. Main wiring harness, cables, horn, seat, rear rack. Crankshaft, piston, cylinder head refurbished including unleaded seats and valves, oil slinger, all engine bearings renewed, timing chain, power dynamo ignition and generator. There is a small battery fitted above the battery box that house the Powersynamic gear to keep the lights bright when running at low revs.
The sidecar 200LS is in great condition mechanically and structurally, with no filler or rot. The seat and sidecar pockets are upholstered in thick red leather. It comes with purpose made fittings for the R27, very strong and of course, well designed. The fitting ball joints can be left on the bike if riding solo.
The gearing on the rear level box is the 'public service' solo ratio of 27/ 6. This outfit also comes with the very rare 26/ 5 for sidecar work.
The bike is mounted with the sidecar attached and comes with the Cobra lights which will need attaching as the bike has been ridden solo recently. I bought the bike as a retirement gift at 66 to myself in March 2024. It hasn't been used since purchase as I haven't retired and I can't move in the garage for other bikes!
It's such a unique looking outfit and deserves to be used and admired which is why it's on the market.
It starts very quickly when following the exact instructions from the original owners manual.
The bike needs absolutely nothing doing to it as someone has spent a fortune getting it up to spec.
