For sale is my 1988 Citroen Bx 1. 7RD, non turbo diesel, no PAS, 5 door hatchback, Electric front windows, central locking, manual 5 speed gearbox, beige in colour with a lovely brown interior, only done 77000 miles from new, only two previous owners, 2x keys, and now with a new MOT, it's first one after being off the road for at least 20 years, it may even be longer because it's still got the tax disc in the windscreen which expired in 1998 !!
I bought this car because I'm a complete sucker for Bx's, this is probably my 11th or 12th Bx, i wasn't looking for a project until a friend of mine sent me the listing for it, i thought I'd have a look at it and call off on my way home from the ferry port after a short break in NL, What made it worse is that the car was bought or maintained at the garage where i started my apprenticeship back in 1991, there's still a sticker in the back screen and the front number plate with that garage on it, with my experience of Bx's over the years I knew this was too good to let it go to the scrapyard because it is totally solid in all the usual places and totally original and has never been welded in it's life and has not needed any for the MOT, but unfortunately being off the road so long as not been kind to the bodywork so it's a little tatty and the paint is still a little flat despite a T-cut and Polish, it will probably come up better with another try but it was far too hot on the day to do it again and I'm not getting any fitter, the interior is in lovely condition with no rips or tears, door cards, dashboard and headlining all look in great condition, it's probably best to view the car before purchase.
GOOD BITS:
Full service with all filters.
Fresh gear oil.
Fresh LHM and filter clean.
Timing belt, pulleys and water pump replaced.
Front crank seal replaced.
Differential seals replaced.
Metal coolant pipe restored at back of the engine with fresh coolant.
New spheres all round including accumulater sphere.
New outer CV boot N/ S.
New strut tops.
New strut leak off pipes.
New front brake discs and pads.
New handbrake cables.
New front brake calipers.
New handbrake cable bracket O/ S.
Wheel rims restored.
5x new Nankang tyres.
New air intake pipe.
New alternator and HP pump belt.
New wiper blades.
New N/ S/ F indicator lense.
New front brake flexi hoses.
New front height corrector supply pipe.
New N/ S/ F brake pipe.
New wishbone bushes both sides.
New O/ S/ F bottom ball joint.
Sound deadening material applied to boot floor.
New exhaust middle section backwards.
Extensive cavity waxing front and rear with Bilthamber Dynax S50.
Full valet inside and out.
New horn.
Radio works.
Warning lights and dash lights work.
NOT SO GOOD BITS:
Bodywork tatty and a little dull.
Some dents, scratches and some corrosion spots in places but not rotten.
Heater fan works intermittently.
Interior lights don't work with the doors open.
Tailgate struts leaking but still working (New ones supplied)
Octopus seen better days and could do with being replaced at some point but not leaking as i write this (LOL)
O/ S/ F suspension strut noisy (Common Bx issue)
Central locking not working on N/ S/ R door.
I hope I have remembered everything, I will correct the description if i remember anything, this Bx is a lovely original example if a little weathered but needs to be cherished and kept on the road, like i said earlier i didn't plan on buying a project car or keeping it but this Bx needed saving !
