Description
Gilera RX200 Arizona, Very nice all round original condition, these are very rare here in UK. Electric start, runs and rides extremely well, its very surprising quite how fast it is. Its a water cooled bike thats been through our workshop had an overhaul and all fluids and levels checked. Its manufactured in 1984, we imported it here to UK and we have also registered the bike, so it comes with a V5 registration. Its more aimed at the taller rider. The Gilera RX is an enduro type motorcycle produced by the Italian motorcycle company Gilera in 125 and 200 cm displacement, presented in the Milan salon in November 1983 and subsequently produced in the Arcore plant and marketed starting in March 1984. A direct competitor of the Cagiva Aletta Rossa, it was able to distinguish itself for its excellent performances for the time, for the accuracy in the assembly, quality of the components, the refined design of Paolo Martin and for the completeness of the instrumentation (which included speedometer, tachometer, indicator petrol and temperature plus indicator lights for oil, arrows and headlights). The chassis features a steel frame with a mixed structure in tubes and boxed sheet, a 35 mm Paioli fork with stems normally placed, connected to a steel handlebar with Tommaselli fixed crossbar and to the rear a single Marzocchi shock absorber adjustable in the spring preload combined with suspension in boxed aluminum sheet of Monodrive type. The braking system is a mixed disc/ drum with a 230mm Brembo front disc with a Brembo caliper with two opposed pistons and a mechanical-driven rear drum, while the spoked wheels are in polished steel from 21 at the front and from 18" at the rear. A metal sheet tank capable of holding up to 13 liters allows a range of 371 km. A saddle with the printed RX logo could allow the transport of a passenger who had two comfortable folding platforms with a knurled rubber insert and a luggage rack that allowed him to find a foothold for his hands. The Gilera two-stroke engine with aluminum alloy cylinder was for the time a real modernity, liquid cooling by pump, automatic mixer, reed admission directly into the cylinder. An electric starter was also available as an option and consequently a larger battery. On the left side of the engine there is the part concerning the CDI-type magnetic flywheel ignition, the adjustable gear lever in the inclination and the 16-tooth pinion connected by a chain to a toothed crown of 52 teeth, which went to fixed in the rear hub, there was also a rubber coupling in the rear hub. On the right side of the engine there is: the automatic mixer variable in the flow rate of oil by a cable connected to the accelerator, the coolant pump connected to the crankshaft by gears, and further inside we find the part concerning the wet clutch d oil and its disks. In 1984 Gilera presented the evolution of the RX model, an identical motorbike in the main mechanics, but with various tricks concerning mostly the visual impact. The modifications were inspired by the large displacement enduros that competed in the Paris-Dakar race: a metal sheet tank like the previous one but with a greater fuel capacity, from 13 to 22 liters on which the logo used for this model stands out: a eagle in the background with stars and stripes, a tribute to the state of Arizona to which this bike has been dedicated.
